Brain & Central Nervous System Cancer

The central nervous system (CNS) is what receives, organizes and sends information through your body. It coordinates every movement and activity. The central nervous system includes your brain and spinal cord.

Brain and CNS cancers occur when abnormal cells form and clump together. Those clumps are benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) tumors. Unlike in other parts of the body, both types of tumors are dangerous. They can spread through the brain tissue and to the spinal cord, compressing normal tissue and damaging brain matter.
