Neuro-Trauma Neurosurgery at the University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) offers the best comprehensive care for patients with neurosurgical disorders. Our neuro-trauma and critical care management teams perform an outstanding job for critically ill and severely injured neurosurgical patients.
Cerebro-Vascular Center of Excellence Management of neurosurgical cerebro-vascular conditions, like aneurysms and arterio-venous malformation, is the best in Northwest Ohio. Micro-surgical procedures, which include resection of arterio-venous malformations as well as aneurysm clipping, are yet to be surpassed by an institution in Ohio. Post-operative results of our patients are exceptional and highly competitive. The addition of the Neurovascular team makes UTMC the only center in Northwest Ohio which provides a comprehensive management for cerebro-vascular disease.
Neurosurgical Oncology Comprehensive management of brain and spinal cord tumors, utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach, is unique and one of the best in the State of Ohio. Our results are comparative and competitive with any other institution in the nation. Our multi-disciplinary team approach gives our patients the best care available, in particular, when dealing with malignant brain tumors or deeply seated benign brain tumors.
Neuro Spine Center of Excellence A variety of complex spine disorders are treated in the neurosurgical division. Our team provides the finest and most delicate approaches to the multitude of spine conditions with outstanding results. Patients undergo cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine surgeries and are extremely satisfied with the care provided. Peripheral nerve surgery is also provided with excellent results.
Comprehensive Center for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) Our comprehensive approach for normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is unique. We have been able to carefully select the appropriate candidates for neurosurgical intervention utilizing our multi-disciplinary team which includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-radiologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Success of these interventions for NPH has been among the best in the nation. The complication rate is reduced to a minimum when compared with other institutions.
Miscellaneous Neurosurgical Disorders Other neurosurgical interventions, i.e., Chiari malformations, pseudo tumor cerebri, and neural tube defects, make us a center of excellence for these conditions.
