Visitor Information

General Visitation Procedures

Visitors are welcome from 8:30am - 8:30pm., with exceptions listed below. We encourage you to limit visitors to two per patient at one time.

Off-hour visitation is only available with special permission from the Nursing Director. There is a limit of one visitor per patient during off-hour visitation.

Children younger than 16 years old may visit parents or grandparents for 30 minutes, except in Psychiatric and Intensive Care Units. Children under one year may visit only with special permission from a nursing director. 

All children should be free of signs and symptoms of contagious disease and must be under the supervision of an adult at all times when visiting all hospital areas, including clinics and surgery waiting rooms. 

Medical Intensive Care Unit

Visitation of patients in our medical intensive care unit is limited to two visitors per patient from 8:30am - 8:30pm Visitors in the intensive care unit must be 16 or older. No overnight stays are permitted.

Emergency Room

Patients in our Emergency Department may be accompanied by two visitors, 16 years of age or older. All visitors to the Emergency Department will be required to remain at the patient’s bedside.

Surgery and Procedural Areas

Visitors must remain in designated waiting areas. There is a limit of one visitor per patient at the bedside.

Infusion Centers and Radiation Oncology

Visitation for adult patients is not currently permitted unless medically necessary for the care of the patient or for the following special circumstances:

  • Patients may receive religious services from clergy of their choice, at any reasonable time, if it can be provided without disruption of care.
  • Patients with disabilities may have two designated support persons or guardians.

Visitation of COVID-19 Patients

For patients in our COVID-19 unit, general visitation is limited to one visitor per patient per day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors must be at least 16 years of age.

COVID-19 patients may receive religious services from clergy of their choice, during visitation hours, if it can be provided without disruption of care. COVID-19 patients with disabilities may have two designated support persons or guardians stay with them during hospital visiting hours. One individual may remain overnight, if the hospital can accommodate them.

For end-of-life care, COVID-19 patients may receive religious services and have up to two visitors, without restrictions on time of day, as approved by staff.


Directions and Maps: Directions, maps, and hospital floor maps are available.

Child Psychiatric Units – Kobacker Center: Limited visiting hours with advance permission of the attending physician.

Smoking: Smoking and use of any tobacco product is prohibited on the UTMC grounds. We are a tobacco-free campus.

Gift Shop: The gift shop is located on the first floor of the hospital near the Four Seasons Bistro. Fresh flowers are not permitted in the Intensive Care areas.

Dining: The Four Seasons Bistro is located on the first floor of the hospital. Hours for the Bistro are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday – Friday and 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. The Bistro is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Valet Parking ServicesValet parking is available for $3 and free for patrons with handicap permits. Valet services are available at the hospital main entrance and the Orthopaedic Center entrance from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Dana Cancer Center has valet services from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.

Self Parking: There is guest parking in Lot #40, located in front of the Mulford Library Building. Patient parking is available in Lot #41 located near the Heart and Vascular and Emergency entrance at the hospital. Special areas are marked for employees, visitors, handicapped vehicles or for emergency use. These restrictions have been made for the safety of all. Parking in restricted areas may result in a ticket and fine.

Pharmacy Services: The UTMC Outpatient Pharmacy is available for your prescription needs. They are located in the Medical Pavilion. The Outpatient Pharmacy is available to fill your prescription needs Monday- Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pharmacy can be reached at 419.383.3750.

Interpreter Services: UTMC has a video remote interpreter service for our deaf, hard of hearing, and/or Limited English Proficiency patients and companions called STRATUS.

Pastoral Care: Our trained hospital chaplains are here to assist those in need of spiritual and emotional support. Pastoral care chaplains are available in house Monday-Friday, and are on call on the weekends. We are available 24/7, and will respond to your needs.
